Circumference (cm) Volume (L) include
1

How to measure the extremity volume:

1. Use a flexible tape measure (cm).Figure showing skin markings
2. Apply markings on the skin with a waterproof pen.
3. Keep patient lying still in supine, relaxed position.
4. Leg straight. Arm straight (abducted 90 degrees).
5. Apply first marking at crotch / axilla level as shown in figure 1.
6. Apply markings on the skin every 5cm, beginning at the first marking all the way to the ankle/wrist. If tumor affects the foot or hand include them into the measure, leaving fingers or toes out.
7. Measure the circumference at every level marked, pulling the tape tightly, compressing any subcutaneous fat tissue to the sides as much as possible.
8. Enter the values measured into the table, including the length of the extremity from crotch/axilla down to the most distal measure.
9. Mark your planned incision and your planned tourniquet placement on the skin.
10. If necessary, use the include-checkboxes to uncheck any cones that shall not be included into the calculation (due to the placement of the tourniquet).
